Thanks to Walmart suppliers, a reported 20 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions have been avoided in the last year as a result of Project Gigaton—an aggressive initiative with suppliers to reduce value chain emissions by one billion metric tons by 2030. And the team is not stopping there.  Walmart has also made significant strides towards their goal to be supplied globally with 50% renewable energy by 2025. “The early success of Project Gigaton parallels ongoing progress in our operational efforts that seek to double our U.S. renewable energy use…” said Kathleen McLaughlin, senior vice president and chief sustainability officer for Walmart.
