Paradigm shift in Oil and Gas industry

Image
There’s disruption all around us. Over the past three decades, the rise of high-speed internet, exponential growth of computational power, and ever-decreasing costs of data storage have drastically changed how we live, what we interact with, and how businesses operate. The democratization of data and technology provides easier access to things that we have never imagined. It helped organizations to push boundaries and disrupt the status quo. Not only are technology trends shaping business models, but ever-evolving behaviors and expectations from consumers are impacting organizations’ current practices. The advent of the Information Age has been transformative – industry after industry, ranging from law, media, and manufacturing have evolved value propositions, company missions, business models and operating practices to adapt to the paradigm shift. EFF: The U.S. Desperately Needs a “Fiber for All” Plan

The U.S. Desperately Needs a “Fiber for All” Plan We have a real, coming broadband access crisis in the United States. Data from the government and independent analysis show that we are falling behind the world. This crisis comes from the fact that fiber-to-the-home deployment, the alternative to your gigabit cable monopoly (if you even have that choice), is languishing and slowing down across the board. In contrast to the United States, countries around the world are aggressively modernizing their telecommunications infrastructure. They are actively pushing fiber across the board, with advanced Asian markets like South Korea and Japan already finished, and countries in the EU heading towards universal access. China is predicted to have more than five times (around 80 percent of households totaling at 193.5 million homes) the U.S. number of fiber gigabit connections by 2023 . The big difference between the United States and the rest of the advanced economies around the world is...

Insights on Telco Edge, Edge, and Hyperconverged Architectures – Panelist Discussion at Edge Congress

I have a confession to make.  I have come to realize that I am size-ist as it relates to data centers. My history in the Cloud & Service Provider space began on the Power side of the world. To me, hyperscale has always been the data center market to me.  The edge opportunity, however, is opening my eyes to my own prejudice, and the panel that I had the chance to see at Edge Congress only enhanced my excitement. Panelists talked about the dramatic spike in data that will need to be handled at the edge, vertical specific edge requirements, and major implications for telco edge . Lastly, they covered the critical success factors in deploying an edge architecture which included a nod to a hyperconverged solution. Edge Congress Panel – A Discussion on Opportunities and Challenges at the Edge The panel featured four experts who are on the front line helping customers implement edge computing solutions every day. They included Paul Morgan, Global Sales for Manufacturing, Auto...
