The Relation between IIOT, SCADA and HMI Explained

Globally, in the modern age, we are observing an exciting new wave of technological development, propelled by automation and effective & skilled human understanding. A few exciting and prominent technological concepts that are at the forefront of this rapidly enhancing high-tech world are the Industrial Internet of Things, SCADA System , and an effective Human Machine Interface ( HMI ).  The functions of these 3 technologies and how they connect to propel a high-tech future can be elaborated on below – IIoT Internet of Things is a system of intelligent computers, devices, and objects that accumulate and share massive amounts of data. This collated data is sent to a central cloud-based service, where it is inculcated with other data and then shared with end users in an effective way. The Industrial Internet of Things is being implemented across a plethora of sectors, such as electrical industries primarily dealing in semiconductors, cloud computing, and artificial intelligen...

Why Manufacturing Sector still Relies on SCADA for Operations?

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) can be explained as a control system architecture that employs the functions of computers, networked data communications, and graphical user interfaces to facilitate high-level process supervisory management. It additionally uses other external devices such as a programmable logic controller ( PLC ) and discrete PID controllers to monitor the process plant or machinery. The use of SCADA software has also been acknowledged for management and operations of project-driven-process in major industries. SCADA systems are essential for modern business. In fact, SCADA systems normally allow a business to function far more efficiently and safely, and at a significantly lower cost. These systems offer real-time details, which further cements itself as one of the top regulatory systems. Key industries utilising this technology include water and wastewater management, oil & gas, and power utilities. Other industries include telecom and aquacul...

EFF: California Assembly’s Privacy Committee Votes to Weaken Landmark Privacy Law

California Assembly’s Privacy Committee Votes to Weaken Landmark Privacy Law The California State Assembly’s Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee today capitulated to industry complaints that our privacy is inconvenient for its bottom line. It voted to advance five bills opposed by privacy advocates that would undermine the landmark California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and put companies before consumers. Rather than stand up for Californians and their constitutional right to privacy, this Committee and its Chairman Ed Chau would not defend the CCPA, let alone strengthen it. Committee members undercut consumer privacy by passing the following bills: A.B. 25 (Chau) would allow companies to collect invasive data about their employees. A.B. 846 (Burke) would increase the power of businesses to force consumers to pay for their CCPA privacy rights. A.B. 191 (Daly) would allow the insurance industry to dodge the consumer protections of the CCPA. A.B. 873 (Irwin) would we...
